Metallo con finitura a buccia d’arancia, arma pulita. ABE La produzione inglese di Chassepot è stimata in sole 31.000 unità tra il novembre 1867 e l’ottobre 1868, e in 11.000 unità nel 1870. I modelli della prima produzione non recano il marchio della ditta Cahen-Lyon né sulla culatta, né tantomeno sulla canna del modello 1866. Il calcio reca esclusivamente il marchio Tipping & Lawden.
