Manoscritto autografo firmato «La Duchessa d’Abrantès» intitolato «La marchesa di Brinvilliers» senza data, con cancellature e correzioni; 27 pagine in folio. Questa storia di una famosa avvelenatrice è seguita da un resoconto dell’affare dei veleni e della fine della vicina. In una prefazione di poche righe, Laure d’Abrantès, che vede in questo racconto «un compito penoso...», spiega tuttavia di essersi sentita in dovere di scriverlo: «è necessario che la stessa mano che mette in luce le virtù, sveli anche i crimini...».
