Maestro fiammingo del XVII secolo Contadini che fumano in una locanda Olio su rame. 37,5 x 30 cm. Provenienza Collezione privata della Germania settentrionale. Una rappresentazione simile di David Teniers il Giovane, che probabilmente è servita da modello per il nostro dipinto, ma che presenta alcune variazioni, si trova oggi al Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza di Madrid. Tra le differenze vi è, tra l’altro, un piccolo gufo che nel presente dipinto è appollaiato in alto a sinistra su una persiana, mentre nel quadro di Madrid manca. In compenso, in quest’ultimo un uomo con un berretto rosso guarda dall’esterno attraverso la finestra all’interno della locanda, dove nel nostro dipinto è raffigurata una brocca di terracotta marrone.
