Questo ritratto storico inciso raffigura Hans Lipperhey, un ottico tedesco-olandese a cui viene tradizionalmente attribuito il primo brevetto conosciuto per un telescopio rifrattore, depositato nel 1608. Il ritratto è incorniciato da un bordo ottagonale e raffigura Lipperhey con indosso un colletto a balze e un farsetto tipici dell’epoca; sotto l’immagine è presente un’iscrizione che lo identifica come HANS LIPPERHEY, secundus Conspiciliorum inventor (il secondo inventore degli occhiali/dispositivi ottici).
