Busti affiancati a destra: Nicola II in uniforme militare con spalline e decorazioni, e l’imperatrice Alexandra con un diadema in testa e una collana al collo. Firmato: J. C. / CHAPLAIN. Retro: «VISITA · IN · FRANCIA / DI · LORO · MAESTÀ / L’IMPERATORE · E · L’IMPERATRICE / DI RUSSIA / CHERBOURG PARIGI CHALONS / 5-9 OTTOBRE / 1896». In alto, lo stemma dell’Impero russo (aquila bicipite) a sinistra e l’emblema della Repubblica francese (fascio littorio e scudo con le iniziali RF) a destra, che sovrastano un’iscrizione di sette righe, con la parte inferiore e quella sinistra ornate da una ricca ghirlanda di fiori.
