Prima edizione. Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759 – 1840) era un pittore e botanico. Fu anche artista ufficiale di corte della regina Maria Antonietta in Francia. Redouté era soprannominato “il Raffaello dei fiori” ed è stato definito il più grande illustratore botanico di tutti i tempi.
