Johann Baptist Homann, Carta dell'Asia pubblicata da Homanns Erben, cartiglio figurato in basso a sinistra, con la dicitura "Asia secundum legitimas projectionis...Homannianorum Hered. A. 1744", raffigurante l'area compresa tra le Spitzbergen a nord, la Nuova Guinea a est, Sumatra a sud e Madrid a ovest, distorta, che ricorda l'aspetto di un mappamondo, incisione in rame parzialmente colorata, solita piega centrale, leggera mancanza di conservazione, opacizzata e incorniciata dietro vetro, dimensioni (senza scritte) circa 47 x 55 cm. Informazioni sull'artista: incisore, editore e gesuita tedesco (1664 Kambach - 1724 Norimberga), probabilmente allievo di David Funck, fondò la propria casa editrice "Homännisches Landkarten-Offizin" intorno al 1702, nel 1715 membro della Società Reale Prussiana delle Scienze, imperatore Carlo VI. L'imperatore Carlo VI lo insignì del titolo di "Geografo imperiale" e lo zar russo Pietro il Grande nominò Homann "Agente imperiale russo", attivo tra l'altro a Vienna, Lipsia e Norimberga, Fonte: Thieme-Becker e Internet.
