Johann Baptist Homann, mappa del distretto della Franconia nella parte inferiore sinistra, magnifico cartiglio figurativo con la scritta "Electoratus Moguntinus... Joh. Bapt. Homanno...", raffigurazione dell’area compresa tra Marburg a nord, Wertheim a est, Stoccarda a sud e Simmern a ovest; incisione su rame parzialmente colorata, 1700 circa; al centro la consueta piega di piegatura, lievi segni di invecchiamento; dimensioni dell’immagine circa 56 x 47,5 cm, dimensioni del foglio circa 63 x 53 cm. Informazioni sull’artista: incisore tedesco, editore e gesuita (1664 a Kambach – 1724 a Norimberga), presumibilmente allievo di David Funck, fondò intorno al 1702 la propria casa editrice «Homännisches Landkarten-Offizin», nel 1715 divenne membro della Società Reale Prussiana delle Scienze; l’imperatore Carlo VI gli conferì il titolo di «geografo imperiale» e lo zar russo Pietro il Grande nominò Homann «agente imperiale russo», attivo tra l’altro a Vienna, Lipsia e Norimberga; fonte: Thieme-Becker e Internet.
