Scuola FRANCESE del XVII secolo, cerchia di Daniel DUMONSTIER (1574-1646) Ritratto del re Luigi XIII con il gran cordone dell’Ordine dello Spirito Santo Olio su tela incollata su tavola A_69,5 cm L_56 cm Ritessuto, restaurato, vernice incrostata e ossidata Il nostro dipinto è da mettere in relazione con un altro ritratto di Luigi XIII apparso recentemente sul mercato dell’arte e attribuito a Daniel Dumonstier. Il re è raffigurato mentre indossa il gran cordone dell’Ordine dello Spirito Santo su un abito chiaro e decorato con motivi floreali, che contrasta con gli abiti da lutto indossati nelle rappresentazioni giovanili del monarca. Possiamo inoltre mettere in relazione il nostro dipinto con il ritratto di Carlo di Gonzaga, duca di Mantova, conservato al Musée de l’Ardenne e attribuito alla cerchia di Daniel Dumonstier.
