Un morione bianco e nero della Germania meridionale, 1580/90 circa Calotta pesante, realizzata in due parti, con cresta alta, bordata e allacciata. Sulla calotta, su entrambi i lati, due strisce bianche in rilievo, di forma affusolata. Sul bordo inferiore, rivetti di rivestimento perimetrali con rosette decorative in ottone; manca il passante per il ciuffo di piume sulla nuca. Tesa robusta, affusolata all’estremità inferiore, con bordo ribattuto e allacciato. Vicino alla punta posteriore, su un lato, è impresso il marchio dell’Arsenale «D giacente» dell’Armeria Civica di Vienna. Passanti in pelle rivettati lateralmente per il fissaggio del sottogola, con un foro di sospensione sotto ciascuno di essi. Altezza 37 cm. Forma elegante e insolitamente alta del morione. Un esemplare simile è riportato in: «Das Wiener Bürgerliche Zeughaus», catalogo della mostra al Castello di Schalaburg, 1977, fig. 45, n. cat. 551. Provenienza: Armeria Civica di Vienna.
