(Léon o Gaston) Bérardi, direttore del quotidiano di Bruxelles L'Indépendance belge: «"Caro signor Berardi, ho risposto alla sua incantevole lettera [...] Ecco due lettere che forse riterrà opportuno pubblicare. Prego la signora Berardi di proteggere Shakespeare e Victor Hugo, l’uno e l’altro, con il suo sorriso più dolce. A lei ‘ex intimo’.”” Affascinante lettera inviata pochi giorni dopo la pubblicazione del suo saggio William Shakespeare, edito in occasione del tricentenario della nascita del drammaturgo.
