Con la firma al margine inferiore a destra. Frontespizio per le Vedute di Roma, serie in 135 lastre alla quale Piranesi iniziò a lavorare dal 1748 e che continuò ad accrescere con nuove tavole per tutto l'arco della sua vita. Bellissima impressione nel IV stato di 7 con l'indirizzo e il prezzo e l'aggiunta di tratti incrociati, a simulare piante rampicanti, sulla cornice più bassa (a metà altezza della stampa) dell'edificio in alto a destra sullo sfondo. Carta vergellata spessa con filigrana "stemma con lettere F ed M" (Robison, 61). (1) Foglio integro con margini come in origine (piccolo il superiore). Traccia di piega verticale al centro e di due lievissime pieghe di stampa.
