(Restauro dell’angolo in alto a sinistra, rifatto con lo stilo). 27 x 21,1 cm Provenienza: - Sir John Pope-Hennessy (1913-1994). - Collezione privata, Europa. - Asta Christie’s, Londra, 3 luglio 2018, n. 2. Questo splendido studio ricorda la tecnica di Giovanni Antonio Bazzi e, per il tema trattato, può essere accostato alle teste delle suore domenicane presenti nell’Estasi di Santa Caterina da Siena, affresco realizzato intorno al 1525-1526 nella cappella di Santa Caterina da Siena nella basilica di San Domenico. Troviamo questa testa capovolta anche nella pala d’altare di Fungai, dipinta nel 1496 per il Santuario di Santa Caterina da Siena, alla quale Sodoma potrebbe essersi ispirato.
