Provenienza: Vendita anonima, Christie's, Londra, 15 novembre 2012, lotto 39 (875 £). Collezione privata, Regno Unito. Nota: Hayward partì dal Canada alla volta dell'Europa nel 1856 e nel 1881 viveva a Londra. Studiò alla West London School of Art e alla Royal Academy Schools, e in seguito lavorò principalmente come pittore di fiori. Espose in numerose occasioni, tra cui alla Royal Academy di Londra, alla Royal Society of British Artists, alla Fine Art Society e alla Grosvenor Gallery, oltre a molte altre.
