Provenienza: Collezione privata, Regno Unito. Nota: L’interesse di Claesz per i tulipani fa eco all’ondata di tulipomania che investì i Paesi Bassi a metà del XVII secolo, causando un’impennata dei prezzi dei bulbi e, di conseguenza, uno dei crolli di mercato più significativi della storia. Il presente studio raffigura una delle varietà di tulipano più rare e, di conseguenza, più pregiate, caratterizzata da petali variegati e riccamente striati, particolarmente ricercati all’epoca.
