Natività del Bambino Gesù con la Vergine, San Giuseppe, Santa Elisabetta e San Giovanni Battista – Scuola italiana – XVII secolo Olio su tela. 93 × 74 cm. Con cornice: 108 × 85 cm. Composizione religiosa incentrata sul Bambino Gesù, raffigurato nudo e disteso su un letto ricoperto di teli bianchi. La Vergine Maria, vestita con una tunica rossa e un mantello scuro, si china verso il Bambino tenendo in mano un telo. Alla sua destra compare una figura maschile barbuta, identificabile come San Giuseppe, e dietro Maria una figura femminile anziana. All’estrema sinistra si trova il piccolo San Giovanni Battista, accompagnato da una croce di canna. La scena presenta una disposizione delle figure caratteristica della pittura devozionale italiana, con attenzione ai gesti, ai volti e ai simboli dell’infanzia di Cristo.
