Scottie Wilson (scozzese, 1888-1972) Servizio da tavola “Cigni e castelli” Ceramica. 48 pezzi comprendenti: una teiera, sei tazze e piattini, un vassoio, un mestolo, cinque scodelle e ciotole, sedici piattini (di varie dimensioni), dodici piatti e un portauova. Firmato e contrassegnato «Royal Worcester Crownware England». Formati vari. Provenienza: collezione di Laurent Danchin (1946-2017), scrittore, saggista e critico d’arte, per eredità familiare. Nato a Glasgow in una famiglia povera, Louis Freeman lasciò la scuola all’età di otto anni per vendere giornali. Emigrato a Toronto, vi gestì un negozio di oggetti di seconda mano e, superati i quarant’anni, iniziò a disegnare con penna e inchiostro. Fiori, uccelli e figure malvagie, i «Greedies» e gli «Evils», compongono un universo morale. Il male vi si oppone alla natura.
