ATTRIBUITO A WILLIAM ANDERSON (BRITANNICO, 1757-1837) Una fregata di quinta classe che riduce le vele mentre si avvicina a Liverpool, con la sagoma della Dogana sullo sfondo Acquerello 9 x 12¼ pollici (23 x 31 cm) Provenienza: Da Heather Newman Fine Quality British Watercolours, Gloucestershire. La caratteristica dogana in stile neoclassico visibile all’orizzonte a sinistra in questo quadro fu iniziata nel 1828 e completata nel 1839. Fu la quinta ad essere costruita in quella posizione e rimase in piedi fino al 1948, quando, nonostante le proteste, non furono stanziati i fondi governativi necessari per riparare i danni subiti durante la guerra e fu quindi demolita. Presenta macchie di ossidazione sulla carta. Incorniciato: 17,5 x 20 pollici.
