Vital DUBRAY (1813-1892), da Il generale Abbatucci a 23 anni e Ritratto di un gentiluomo insignito della Legione d’Onore Busti in bronzo con patina marrone che potrebbero formare una coppia Il primo reca la seguente iscrizione sul piedistallo: «Charles Abbatucci / Generale di divisione morto a Huningue nel 1796 / all’età di 23 anni» Il secondo è firmato e datato 1853 sul retro, con il marchio della fonderia Ecket Durand Altezza: 26,5 e 29 cm Abituato a raffigurare personaggi storici, Dubray ha anche scolpito l’imperatore Napoleone a cavallo, l’imperatrice Giuseppina, il giurista Robert Pothier o il colonnello Louis Rossel, che si distinse durante la Comune. È autore di diverse sculture monumentali in Corsica, tra cui quella di Abbatucci nella piazza omonima di Ajaccio. Dubray ha realizzato anche il busto in marmo del generale, di cui il nostro bronzo è una riduzione. Oggi è esposto nella Galleria delle Battaglie del Castello di Versailles.
