Jean-Baptiste PIGALLE (1714-1785), da Il bambino con la gabbia Scultura in marmo bianco su base in bronzo cesellato e dorato con ricco decoro fogliato. Fine del XVIII secolo. Altezza: 50 cm Provenienza: -collezione principesca dei Tour et Taxis -successivamente collezione privata a Francoforte sul Meno Nota. Questa scultura raffigura il figlio di Jean Pâris de Montmartel, un ricco finanziere e collezionista d’arte che fu anche il padrino della marchesa di Pompadour. Pigalle apprezzava talmente tanto quest’opera che decise in seguito di riacquistarla per abbinarvi una seconda creazione: La Ragazzina con l’uccello e la mela. A differenza del ragazzo, questa ragazzina non è il ritratto di una bambina reale. Insieme, queste due statue formano un duo che celebra l’innocenza dell’infanzia. L’opera originale in marmo de *L’Enfant à la cage* è conservata al Museo del Louvre di Parigi (n. di inventario RF 654).
