Edizione originale. Percy Venner Bradshaw (1877-1965), disegnatore giornalistico e fondatore nel 1905 della Press Art School, scuola di disegno per corrispondenza con sede a Forest Hill, concepì questa serie come un corso magistrale basato sull’esempio. Commissionò a venti illustratori britannici di spicco una composizione inedita, lasciando a ciascuno la libera scelta del soggetto, a condizione di mostrarne tutte le fasi, dal primo schizzo al disegno finito. I venti artisti sono H. M. Bateman (1887-1970), C. E. Brock (1870-1938), Cyrus Cuneo (1879-1916), W. Russell Flint (1880-1969), Dudley Hardy (1867-1922), William Hatherell (1855-1928), Fortunino Matania (1881-1963), Bernard Partridge (1861-1945), Spencer Pryse (1882-1956), Warwick Reynolds (1880-1926), Frank Reynolds (1876-1953), W. Heath Robinson (1872-1944), Harry Rountree (1878-1950), Balliol Salmon (1868-1953), C. A. Shepperson (1867-1921), E. J. Sullivan (1869-1933), Bert Thomas (1883-1966), Louise Wright (attiva intorno al 1910) e Lawson Wood (1878-1957).
