CESAR (1921-1998) «Enveloppage» 1971 Vecchio macinacaffè (legno, metallo e carta) racchiuso in plexiglas termoformato Traccia di firma (carta parzialmente strappata), localizzata a Nizza e datata 13.4.71 45 x 39 x 25 cm Provenienza: donato dall’artista al proprietario La serie delle «Enveloppages», opere poco conosciute dal carattere sperimentale, fa seguito alle «Compressions transparentes» degli anni ’70. Nelle «Enveloppages», César utilizza questo processo inserendovi degli oggetti. Macchina da scrivere, telefono, paio di scarpe, macinacaffè, attrezzi, ventilatore, Tutti questi oggetti d’epoca, provenienti dalla vita quotidiana o dai mercatini dell’usato che l’artista ama frequentare, appaiono, come reliquiari, racchiusi in uno o più fogli di plastica. Sono di piccole dimensioni e di grande qualità (carta strappata, plexiglass ingiallito, segni del tempo) decorativa. L’ampiezza delle pieghe e delle ripiegature del foglio di plexiglass esalta la loro presenza. César ha considerato per molto tempo questo tipo di opere come «esperimenti o a volte persino come semplici tentativi di percorsi (che non aveva) intrapreso», ma oggi trovano il loro giusto posto.
