Buwa SHETE (India, 1960) Composizione a due figure Olio su tela Firmato in bengalese e datato “Buwa 98” in basso a destra Dimensioni (area visibile) 60 x 60 cm Incorniciato Esperto: Cabinet PORTIER associés SCHEDA Buwa Shete, nato nel 1960 nel Maharashtra, è un pittore contemporaneo indiano, laureato nel 1983 in arti applicate presso l’Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya di Pune. Inizialmente ha lavorato come direttore artistico e illustratore in agenzie pubblicitarie, pur continuando la sua attività artistica, ma si è dedicato risolutamente alla pittura dopo aver ottenuto il riconoscimento con un premio alla National Exhibition of Young Painters (Calcutta), organizzata da M. F. Husain. Il suo stile è caratterizzato da composizioni oniriche, spesso incentrate su temi quali il legame tra il bambino e la madre o il padre, oppure figure rurali, trattate con colori vivaci. Tra le sue mostre più significative figurano le personali alla Jehangir Art Gallery (Mumbai, 1999), alla Nehru Centre Art Gallery (Mumbai, 2003) e a Singapore (2002), oltre a mostre collettive alla Y.B. Chavan Gallery di Mumbai e all’Abita Art Gallery di Delhi. Nel 1997 ha ricevuto il London International Award per un calendario intitolato «Philosophy by Various Saints».
