La storia universale di Hiob Ludolff, 1731 Del signor Hiob Ludolff, già consigliere segreto del Principe Sovrano di Sassonia, “Palcoscenico universale del mondo”, ovvero: Descrizione delle principali vicende storiche del XVII secolo; Quinta parte, comprendente la storia che si svolge nell’Impero Romano, dall’anno 1675 fino all’anno 1688..., Francoforte sul Meno, ed. Johann Adam Jung, 1731, incisione in rame sul frontespizio, 987 + 471 pp., folio, numerose incisioni in rame nel testo, rilegato in pergamena Hiob Ludolf (o anche Leutholf, Ludloff o Job Ludolph; * 24 giugno 1624 a Erfurt; 8 aprile 1704 a Francoforte sul Meno) fu il fondatore dell’etiopistica, una branca degli studi orientali (ora branca degli studi africanistici). Al servizio diplomatico del duca Ernesto il Pio di Sassonia-Gotha, nel 1649 soggiornò alla corte papale di Roma e prestò servizio alla casa ducale anche come precettore dei principi. (Wikipedia)
