Ritratto del 1737, ritratto di tre quarti di Jacobus Engelmayer, in cornice dorata Jacobus Engelmayer, nato nel 1697, ritratto in occasione del suo quarantesimo compleanno in posa sicura di sé, vestito con un mantello bordato di pelliccia, ha posato la mano sinistra, adornata da un anello pregiato, su un libro. La catena d’ordine dorata e lo stemma a sinistra, che raffigura uno scudo con una bilancia su fondo verde e un angelo in piedi come cimiero, indicano che il soggetto raffigurato è un nobile. La bilancia d’oro simboleggia la giustizia e allude a una carica corrispondente. Il libro simboleggia l’erudizione, la saggezza, il forte legame con il sapere stampato, nonché lo status di una persona riflessiva e illuminata. A destra la didascalia: «Jacobus Engelmayer, Natus 1697 & Pictus anno 1737». Olio su tela, 90 x 68 cm, ritocchi e screpolature dovute all’invecchiamento, in cornice dorata.
