Provenienza: - Antica collezione Pelgrims de Bigard al castello di Groote-Bijgaarden; - Galleria Jonckheere nel 1980; - Asta a Parigi, Hôtel Georges V, studio Ader Tajan, 20 dicembre 1994, n. 32 (1.150.000 Fr), acquisito dall’attuale proprietario. Il nostro dipinto è da datare all’inizio degli anni Venti del Seicento, prima della partenza di Jan Brueghel il Giovane per l’Italia, nel 1622. In quel periodo, la collaborazione tra padre e figlio era frequente. In questo caso, Jan Brueghel il Giovane ha animato con personaggi i paesaggi di Joos de Momper.
