JUAN REUS PARRA (Valencia, 1912–2003) “Scena di corrida” Carboncino e acquerello su carta Firmato. Dimensioni: 26 x 33 cm; 41 x 48 cm (cornice) Specializzato in soggetti taurini e ritratti di toreri, Juan Reus iniziò la sua formazione artistica sotto la guida del pittore Ruano Llopis. Successivamente lavorò nel laboratorio di ventagli di Balbino Giner. Espose i suoi dipinti per la prima volta alle fiere di Prats e Collado a Valencia. Negli anni ’40 fu assunto come disegnatore di manifesti taurini — genere per cui era particolarmente noto — presso la Litografía Ortega, dove sostituì Ruano Llopis e incontrò colui che sarebbe diventato il suo principale mentore, Roberto Domingo. Le opere di Juan Reus sono attualmente esposte al Museo delle Belle Arti di Valencia, nonché ai Musei della Corrida di Valencia e al Museo Manolete di Villa del Río.
