TRINITAT SOTOS BAYARRI (Sabadell, 1927). "Paesaggio urbano di Parigi", 1955. Acquerello su carta. Firmato, datato e collocato nell'angolo inferiore sinistro. Misure: 42 x 26 cm; 59 x 42 cm (cornice). Pittrice catalana stabilitasi a Santander, Trinidad Sotos Bayarri dipinge fin dall'infanzia e a soli dodici anni vince il concorso per bambini dell'Accademia di Belle Arti di Sabadell. Successivamente studia con il maestro Antonio Vila Arrufat, tra il 1940 e il 1946, e infine prolunga la sua formazione presso la Scuola di Belle Arti di Sant Jordi a Barcellona, diplomandosi nel 1951. Ha poi continuato la sua formazione in Italia e in Francia (1952-57), e ha vissuto per un certo periodo a New York. Dal suo debutto nel 1946, ha tenuto mostre in gallerie di spicco come la Biosca di Madrid (1957), la Raymond Duncan di Parigi (1959), la Ward Eggleston di New York (1961), la Trianon di Madrid (1970), ecc.

Francisco Pons Arnau was one of Joaquin Sorolla's main disciples, also becoming his son-in-law when he married his daughter Maria de Sorolla. Although landscapes abound in his production, he also cultivated portraiture, developing in this genre a type of work of great sensuality and exquisiteness that links him to Modernism and Art Deco. An example of this is this beautiful canvas of The Wench of the Pitcher, in which the painter demonstrates his interest in the treatment of light and the brightness of colors, achieving transparencies and enamelled surfaces that show the influence of Symbolism. His canvases of female figures, as defined by the chronicles of the time, have a character of “modern worldliness” but, in this case, the chic woman disappears and the protagonist is a young racial woman with a deep and disturbing gaze, much closer to the symbolist aesthetic. As in most of his production, in this work he demonstrates his skill in representing things, their “qualities”, as can be seen in the shiny and enameled texture of the jug that the girl holds, and also the type of lighting. modern “Valencian style”, in which the silhouette of the female model is silhouetted against the whitewashed wall in the background. Measurements: 76 x 70 cm.

Qty: (9) From the estate of the late Franz-Peter Bach, a German autograph collector of many years. He began collecting in the 1980s, from following music tours in Germany, as well as attending swap meets in Hanover, where as well as exchanging autographs, he was given addresses of celebrities, who he would then write to directly for signatures. His collection was meticulously collated, mostly in albums, and added to over many years. Authenticated prior to the sale by Adam Andrusier. Collated in a presentation album by Mr Bach, with tipped in photograph on opposing page.
