Important old craquelures on the work. Biography: Alcide Marie Camille Liausu, born November 22, 1894 in Biarritz and died October 30, 1975 in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, was a French painter. He was the brother of playwright and journalist Jean-Pierre Liausu (1898-1950). The son of a merchant, Camille Liausu left Bayonne to attend the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, where he met Jean Léon. He moved to Paris with the painter Cormon around 1919 and exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, Salon des Tuileries and Salon du Grand Palais. In 1923, Camille Liausu and his friend Roger Bissière set up their studios in the Parc-de-Montsouris district near Braque and Latapie. A renowned painter of the interwar period, he was everywhere present alongside today's greats (Othon Friesz, Vlaminck, Utrillo, Suzanne Valadon, Dunoyer de Ségonzac, Seyssaud, Foujita, Matisse, Kisling, Signac, Survage, van Dongen, Bonnard, Dufy, Marcoussis, Picasso, Pascin, Derain ....) exhibiting with them in the best galleries and pictorial art events, Camille Liausu voluntarily withdrew from the world to devote himself totally to his art and his passion from the start of the Second World War. Liausu was an astonishing man who, after having won every honour and having been noticed everywhere for his paintings, with their remarkable purity of drawing, sobriety of color, naturalness of character, ease and simplicity of craft, no longer wished to enter public life. Between 1945 and 1960, he came out of hiding three times, for two exhibitions and the execution of two works commissioned by the French government. Living in Montrouge, he died at Hôpital Laennec in Paris at the age of 80.
