Theodor Kern, autrichien/britannique, 1900-1969 - Six études pour le Chemin de Croix ; aquarelle sur papier, 31,8 x 23,8 cm : accompagnée de 5 autres aquarelles sur papier du même artiste, de mêmes dimensions (non encadrées) (5) (ARR) Remarque : Artiste émigré, Kern est arrivé en Grande-Bretagne en 1938 et a réalisé de nombreuses commandes pour des lieux de culte, notamment l’abbaye de Buckfast et l’église Saint-Paul de Bedford. À l’instar de son contemporain Hans Feibusch, il a su intégrer un langage pictural moderne dans ses œuvres religieuses. Bon nombre de ses œuvres font partie de collections publiques, notamment celles de Wardown House, Museum & Gallery et du North Hertfordshire Museum. Kern a réalisé une série de stations du Chemin de Croix pour l’église Sainte-Anselme-et-Sainte-Cécile de Kingsway, à Londres.
