Contemp. vellum over boards (light traces of use, sm. tear in vellum upper board). Profusely illustrated manuscript in two parts by Marinus Hoek, surveyor and schoolmaster at Roosendaal (North Brabant). First is the transcription of the treatise by Matteus van Nispen (c. 1628-1717), surveyor, editor, bookseller and professor in the art of surveying at Dordrecht. His "Beknopte Lant-meet-kunst" knew five editions between 1662 and 1744. The author of the second part "Liefhebberij van de Geometrie..." is Marinus Hoek himself. Both parts illustrated, not only with numerous geometric diagrams in pen, but also with nice coloured landscapes showing practical applications of surveying.
