Elle est considérée comme l'épouse du personnage masqué « zamble » (et de son frère « zauli ») et, à ce titre, doit toujours suivre son mari ; ainsi, lors des danses masquées, elle apparaît toujours après lui. Malgré son apparence humaine, « gu » est considérée comme un être de la forêt. On peut tout à fait imaginer que l’association de beaux traits féminins et de cornes vise à souligner cet aspect et à mettre ainsi particulièrement en valeur la dimension mystique de « gu ».
