Libéria, Kru Figure féminine debout « lü mä » Bois, pigments, cheveux, verre Ancien n° de collection « Libéria n° 124 ». Une œuvre comparable est illustrée chez Bastin (1984, fig. 443) ainsi que dans AHDRC 0063231. Cette figure féminine monumentale dégage une force extraordinaire par sa posture droite et son visage grave et expressif. La cicatrice décorative en relief, ornée de motifs et s’étendant verticalement sur le front et l’arête du nez, était considérée dans la culture des Kru comme un signe de la plus haute élégance féminine, de dignité et de maturité sociale. Les cheveux naturels appliqués confèrent à la sculpture une présence presque réaliste et renforcent l’impression d’un portrait féminin individuel.
