La figurine représente une femme de haut rang, comme en témoigne à elle seule sa coiffure en forme de mitre. De plus, elle est richement ornée de scarifications élaborées en forme de boutons et ses dents ont été limées rituellement. Elle pourrait bien incarner la fondatrice d’un clan, appelée « mère de la lignée » – « ngudi » –, et aurait alors été conservée dans la demeure d’un chef de clan.
