1984 RENAULT 5 TURBO 2 Registration Document: French Chassis Number: VF1822000F0000064 An icon of 1980s homologation specials and Group B rally heritage • Mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout powered by a 160 hp turbocharged engine • Turbo 2 generation featuring standardized interior layout and steel opening panels • Original French example benefiting from regular maintenance Introduced in 1982 to succeed the original 5 Turbo, the Renault 5 Turbo 2 was developed to maintain the model's presence in international motorsport and rally homologation while streamlining production costs. Built around a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive platform, the Turbo 2 retained the widened track and aggressive mechanical setup of its predecessor, powered by a 1,397 cc turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 160 horsepower. To make the car more accessible and practical, the Turbo 2 incorporated standardized interior components from the Renault range and replaced the aluminium panels (doors, roof, and tailgate) with steel elements. A total of 3,167 units of the Turbo 2 were produced between 1983 and 1986. The example offered here was first registered on October 19, 1984. Finished in red (shade 705) over beige upholstery, it remained with its original owner until 2004. In 2011, it was acquired by the current owner's father, with the Turbo 2 showing 99,000 km at the time. The vehicle subsequently received a full respray in 2015, a job documented in a 2025 expert appraisal report. In 2025, a general service was carried out costing €2,100. Showing just over 101,000 original, documented kilometres today, this example presents in a condition faithful to its original specification, boasting well-kept bodywork and a well-preserved cabin. Between its livery, history, and documented maintenance, it stands out as a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after and charismatic models in rally history and French automotive production.
