1955 CITROËN TRACTION AVANT 11 B French registration document • Long retained within its first owner’s family • Older paintwork and a patinated appearance • Structural and mechanical work undertaken • Photographic restoration record Produced from 1934 to 1957, the Citroën Traction Avant combines unitary construction, front-wheel drive and a low-set silhouette. In 11 B form, known as the ‘normale’, it offers a more spacious body than the 11 BL. This example comes from the family of its first owner, Monsieur Bois, a farmer in Haute-Savoie, from whom the current collector acquired it. The history passed down with the car records a period of ownership spanning almost seventy years. The restoration sought to retain the exterior presentation and paintwork patina while addressing the structure and mechanical components. The front floor and boot floor panel were replaced, the underside treated and repainted, and a new fuel tank fitted. A photographic record illustrates the work. The owner reports a complete engine rebuild, including the liners, pistons, bearings, timing components, cylinder head and valves. The clutch was replaced, the braking system overhauled and the front suspension and associated running gear serviced. This 11 B will appeal to those who value cars that bear the traces of their history and wish to rediscover the atmosphere of post-war French saloons on leisurely outings.
