Lame legerement courbe a dos plat, a pan creux et gouttiere, marquee « FONSON et Cie Bruxelles ». Monture en bronze a un arc de jointure, garde et quillon ciseles de motifs vegetaux. Poignee en corne, filigrane present mais detache du cote de la garde. Dragonne en cuir avec deux coulisseaux en bronze ciseles de motifs vegetaux. Fourreau en fer a deux anneaux de beliere. Usure d’usage. Belgian infantry officer’s sabre, model 1850, with sword knot. Based on the French model 1845 sabre. Slightly curved blade with a flat spine, fuller and groove, marked ‘FONSON et Cie Bruxelles’. Bronze hilt with a single knuckle bow, guard and quillon chased with foliage motifs. Horn grip with wire wrapping present but detached on the guard side. Leather sword knot with two bronze sliders chased with foliage motifs. Iron scabbard with two suspension rings. Signs of wear.
