ÉCOLE CHINOISE (XXe SIÈCLE) L'U.S.S. « Wilmington » en pleine mer agitée Portant l'inscription du nom du navire (en bas au centre) Huile sur toile 15¼ x 20¾ pouces (38,5 x 52,5 cm) Le nom d'une classe de deux canonnières de 1 500 tonnes mises à l'eau en 1895, « Wilmington », a connu une très longue carrière : après avoir servi tant lors de la guerre hispano-américaine que pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, le navire, rebaptisé « Dover » en 1941, a été utilisé à des fins d’entraînement tout au long de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et n’a été radié de la liste qu’en 1946.
