MARIE EDOUARD ADAM (FRANÇAIS, 1847-1929) Le navire à vapeur « Beck Frères » de la compagnie Beck Line Signé et daté « Eud Adam 1900 » (en bas à gauche) Huile sur toile 23 x 35½ pouces (58,5 x 90 cm) Mis à l'eau par Laing à Deptford en décembre 1881 sous le nom de « Laju » et immatriculé pour 1 910 tonnes, il fut vendu en 1900 à Georges Beck, qui fut probablement à l'origine de cette commande. En 1917, il fut revendu et rebaptisé Outreau ; le 24 novembre 1922, alors qu’il transportait du charbon entre la Tyne et Boulogne, il fut porté disparu et présumé perdu ; on n’en a jamais retrouvé la trace.
