ATTRIBUTED TO ALBERTO GIORGI: LACQUER, GLASS AND DIAMOND BROOCH, CIRCA 1970 Designed as stylised pins with a textured decoration achieved through the 'osso di seppia' technique (cuttlefish bone casting), terminating in brown glass and black lacquer cabochons, punctuated by brilliant-cut diamonds, French import marks for 18 carat gold, numbered M76, dimensions 8 x 5 cm, gross weight 87.46 grams. Alberto Giorgi (born 1947), an Italian jeweller and goldsmith, trained under the sculptor Edgardo Mannucci and became a leading figure of the Fano School. Working from the 1960s onward, at a moment when kinetic art was reshaping established forms, he made geometry his own language, crafting jewels evoking mobile constellations and celestial landscapes, their pivots and articulations echoing the movement of the stars. His work is held in the collections of the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
