Louis Coignet 1895 Paris French Wine Crystal Ewer Pitcher In .950 Sterling Silver Magnificent wine ewer, created in Paris France at the silversmith atelier of Louis Coignet, back in the 1895. It was designed in the early art nouveau style with naturalistic and organic patterns in rich solid .950/.999 silver. It is composed by a fluted blown glass vase mounted in heavily decorated silver frames, adorned with volutes which are finished, with chiseled and textured designs. Fitted with a very elaborated handle and a hinged lid on top in the shape of a maritime conch. Period & style: Early art nouveau. Date: Circa 1895. Silver Assay: .950/.999 Ar. Weight: 1,202.50 Grams, (770.84 Dwt). Measurements: 312 mm by 190 mm by 142 mm (12.25 x 7.5 x 5.6 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks; the maker's mark LC inside a lozange cartouche associated to the atelier of Louis Coignet and the mark of helmeted Minerva inside an octagonal cartouche for the assay and warranty of the .950 silver, (Osprey 133). Literature: David Allan, French Silver Cutlery Of The XIXth Century. Edition Faton Paris 2007. For several similar pieces illustrated. Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver.
