Michael Jan de Goeje (1836-1909) was a Dutch orientalist specialising in Arabia and Islam. A graduate of the universities of Leiden and Oxford, he is renowned for his editions of the manuscripts of Al-Tabari and Al-Idrissi and for his contribution to the colossal Encyclopaedia of Islam.
