Une imposante et belle grande montre carrée en or, boîtier satiné et lunette polie vissée or, cadran argent, minuterie et chiffres romains radiants émaillés noir, aiguilles glaive lumineuses, secondes centrales permanentes. Couronne sertie d'un saphir, fond vissé, mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique. Boucle déployante d'origine en or. Livrée avec un écrin. Excellent état général tant d'un point vue esthétique que mécanique, quelques supeficielles rayures de surface. Louis Cartier crée en 1904 la première montre de poignet pour répondre aux besoins du pionnier de l'aviation Alberto Santos Dumont qui révellait le péril de devoir consulter sa montre gousset et ainsi ne tenir les commandes que d'une main. Déclinée depuis 1911 au catalogue, la Santos fait partie du club très fermé des garde-temps commercialisés depuis plus d'un siècle, dans de multiples déclinaisons. Dim 38 x 38 mm - P.B. 196 g. Sapphire-set crown, automatic winding movement. Original yellow gold deployant buckle. Fitted with a box, the present timepiece is preserved in very good overall condition, showcasing deep hallmarks. In 1904, Louis Cartier created the first wristwatch to meet the needs of aviation pioneer Alberto Santos Dumont, who confided the danger of having to consult his pocket watch and thus only hold the controls of his plane with one hand. Declined in the catalog since 1911, the Santos is part of the very exclusive club of timepieces marketed for more than a century, in different version.
