Wie die vorliegenden Pochoir-Entwürfe zeigen, war Charles Martin einer der profiliertesten Art-Déco-Illustratoren der Zeit. Das Album ist Berthe Cerny gewidmet, Schauspielerin an der Comédie Française. Sie diente als Modell für die Hutentwürfe und ist auf den vier montierten photographischen Abbildungen zu sehen. In ihrer Widmung bezeichnet Demay die Schauspielerin als "la parfaite Parisienne". Mit einem Vorwort des Schriftstellers Alfred Capus. - Die Illustration mit Paradiesvogel mit geglätteter Knickspur. Papierbedingt zart gebräunt. Innengelenk angebrochen. Die Pochoirs in leuchtendem Kolorit. Gut erhalten. Art Deco - With a pochoir illustration on golden ground, four full-page hat models by Charles Martin in pochoir colouring, four mounted photographic illustrations byTalbot, a mounted facsimile portrait, and vignettes in yellow. Cont. half leather with rich guilt decoration on spine, gilt label, marbled boards and marbled endpapers (somewhat rubbed, front joint chipped). - Original edition of this splendid advertising brochure printed by Draeger for Marcelle Demay, a well-known hat designer in the Rue Royale in Paris. As the present pochoir designs show, Charles Martin was one of the most distinguished Art Deco illustrators of the time. The album is dedicated to Berthe Cerny, actress at the Comédie Française. She served as a model for the hat designs and can be seen in the four mounted photographic images. In her dedication, Demay refers to the actress as "la parfaite Parisienne". With a preface by the writer Alfred Capus. - The illustration with bird of paradise with smoothed crease. Paper delicately browned. Inner joint slightly cracked. The pochoirs in bright colouring. Well preserved.

Johannot à Annonay". - Das Fehlen eines Witzes oder gar einer komischen Absicht zugunsten einer viel zweideutigeren Stimmung sprechen für eine Haltung, die derjenigen von Monnier nahe kommt. In der mit viel Verve ausgeführten Zeichnung ist keine offensichtliche Absicht erkenntlich, ein Lachen des Betrachters zu provozieren, wie es in Monniers Zeichnungen oft der Fall ist. Es kommt ebenfalls eine Zuschreibung an den Künstler Fortuné Delarue infrage. - Verso mit leichten Anschmutzungen und hs. Annotationen in Graphit. Sehr gut erhalten mit schönem Kolorit. Henry Monnier (circle of). Genre scene. Around 1825. Washed pen-and-ink and watercolours on vélin. Mounted in the upper margin under passepartout. - With watermark "F. Johannot à Annonay". - The absence of a joke or even a comic intention in favour of a much more ambiguous mood speaks for an attitude close to that of Monnier. In the drawing, executed with much verve, there is no obvious intention to provoke laughter from the viewer, as is often the case in Monnier's drawings. It could also be attributed to the artist Fortuné Delarue. - Verso with slight soiling and handwritten annotations in graphite. Very well preserved with beautiful colouring.
