DODOENS, Rembert Cruydt-boeck volghens sijne laetste verbeteringhe [...] Item, in’t laetste een beschrijvinghe vande Indiaensche ghewassen, meest ghetrocken uyt de schriften van Carolus Clusius. Nu wederom van nieuws oversien ende verbetert. Antwerp Plantin Press (B. Moretus) 1644 Folio: [36]-1492-[59] pp. (some toning and spotting throughout, sm. wormtrack in bl. marg. 1st ff., marg. dampst. in 1st and last part, few unobtrusive ms. ann. in an old hand, sm. holes in text ff. F5, 4M4, 6F2). Contemp. blind-stamped vellum, spine with raised bands (sl. soiled, front joint split). The last and most extensive of all Plantin Press editions of the great botanical encyclopaedia by Dodoens (1517-1585). Illustrated with a nice engr. title with medallion portraits of Dodoens and Clusius and some 1430 woodcut ill. of herbs and medicinal plants but also mushrooms, cacao, tobacco, papyrus, etc. Text in 2 col.
