RICHIR, Herman Jeanne Hovine. 1914 Black and red chalk, 32,3 x 26,3 cm (visible), wove paper, signed, dated and dedicated to the sitter "à Mlle Jeanne Hovine / affectueusement / Herman Richir / 1914" (few sm. spots). Under passe-partout and frame. Very charming drawing by the Brussels portrait painter Herman Richir (1866-1942) of Jeanne Hovine (1888-1992) at the age of 26. Hovine was an illustrator and the first female Belgian comic artist. Together with her sister Laure she published, among others, the comic "Nic et Nac" in Le Soir from 1924 to 1934. Later in life she had a succesful career in theatre under the alias Anne-Marie Ferrières.
