A presumabely South German, one-handed horizontal table clock of museum quality, with hour strike and alarm Dimensions 160 mm, circa 1580, Origin Deutschland Case: Circular firegilt bronze case, engraved decoration, bell under an open-worked copper dome top with applied alarm disc, three ball feet. Dial: Brass, firegilt. Movm.: Circular steel/brass full plate movement, double chain/fusee for going train and striking train, additional barrel for alarm, iron/brass train, count wheel, verge escapement, three-arm iron balance, later open-worked and engraved balance cock. A hammer strikes the hours on the bell at the top. A curved hand was installed on top of the bell to indicate the hours on the horizontal brass dial with engraved Roman numerals "I"-"XII" on the outside and Arabic numerals "13"-"24" on the inside, as well as raised markers for reading the time at night. The magnificently ornamented case is particularly beautiful. The walls are elaborately adorned with engraved strapwork, pomegranates and flowers. Case: very good, small restaurations. Dial: very good, rubbed. Movm.: very good, capable of running, re-build, cleaning recommended.
