CASTELLI, Benedetto Della misura dell'acque correnti [...]. Bologna H.H. del Dozza 1660 4to: [20 incl. front.]-184 pp. (some browning and spotting, upper corner front flyleaf repaired). Contemp. vellum, flat ink titled spine, marbled edges. Third augmented and most complete ed. by the Italian mathematician B. Castelli born Antonio Castelli (1578-1643). Ill. with an engr. front. showing the Milvian Bridge stepping over the Tiber in Rome. This is Castelli's most important work on fluids in motion. Some of his observations were already made by Leonardo da Vinci but have only been brought to light afterwards. Castelli was the student of Galileo Galilei and also his live-long friend. Ref.
