Yoshitoshi Tsukyoka (1839 1892) Serie de los cien aspectos de la luna (Tsuki Hyakushi) Lámina n.º 2: Chang’e huye hacia la luna (Joga bengetsu) Según una leyenda china, Chang’e era la esposa del famoso arquero Hou Yi, al servicio del emperador Yao. Durante un eclipse lunar, Hou Yi disparó flechas hacia el cielo, lo que provocó el regreso de la luna. Como recompensa, la diosa Xi Wang Mu le ofreció una copa que contenía el «elixir de la vida». Chang’e se apoderó de la copa, bebió el elixir y huyó a la Luna para reinar allí como diosa.
