C. esquisto tallado y pulido, de forma ovoide con muescas ornamentales talladas alrededor del borde 13,9 cm de longitud Procedencia: Ole Braunstein (1917-1999); adquirida antes de 1974, y desde entonces transmitida por herencia Braunstein fue galardonado con el Premio Høyen en 1984 Las primeras paletas cosméticas egipcias aparecen por primera vez en el registro arqueológico durante el periodo predinástico, adoptando tradicionalmente formas geométricas o talladas para imitar las formas de peces o tortugas. En un principio, su uso era principalmente funcional, ya que tanto hombres como mujeres las empleaban como plataforma para moler y aplicar pinturas sobre la piel. Posteriormente, también se utilizaron con fines ceremoniales, como ofrendas en las tumbas de la élite o, posiblemente, en el proceso de unción de las representaciones de los dioses.
